Just about the same for some % of people here that hold out their hands and say “Gimme” while living up in brand new government subsidized apartments.

with unemployment at its current rate, do you really think it makes sense to view protest against the growing plutocracy and shredding of any semblance of a social safety net as an entitled demand for a handout? is unemployment where it’s at because more people have just decided they don’t feel like working? the number of people on welfare and living in housing projects is an irrelevant factor in the current economic crisis.

Unemployment is high, I do agree with that. I have been there and I am not saying that just because being unemployed is where it should be to survive. I am saying that those who stay on unemployment greater than a year tends to feel the less of a need to go look for a job if they can not work and still get paid better than minimum wage.  A friend is was doing this exact thing.  I think a social safety net should be created by us or at least something more well defined, and not a government institution because then you would be including in something like bailing out the banks that caused us to have enormous debts.

I know competition is high in the job market.  This doesn’t mean there aren’t jobs out there that people can take.  For me, it goes down on the same idea that people make different choices in life, and a lot of the times the wrong choices which consequent their outcome.   I know plenty of classmates that majored in psychology, or foreign languages and they don’t end up working in the field they studied in because they couldn’t find a job that they dreamed of. Sure study college to aspire something fantastic and if you succeed, kudos to you.  Majority wise not everyone can be a rock star just because they studied and got a diploma for it.  Think about what college is for.  For you and me, we both got degrees in science and engineering and we are allowed various options.  To me it seems that people don’t think about what jobs are available that they can get on top of something they’d like to do.  For example, what’s with all the art and psychology degrees?  There are so many jobs in science and engineering not being filled that pays high dollars. Like here in construction, there’s a lack of field engineers. Whats up with that?

“Let’s get this straight. We’re going to be ‘gifted’ with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don’t, which purportedly covers at least ten million more people without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn’t understand it, passed by a Congress that didn’t read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a president who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn’t pay his taxes, for which we’ll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that’s broke!! WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?”
